MEET OUR Head Of Content & EventS Programming

Claire has over 15 years experience in live events, project management and broadcasting. She recently left the BBC after 12 years, launching and delivering a range of music events and education focused initiatives.

Working with Jason Carter, Claire was part of the BBC team that developed and launched BBC Introducing in 2008 and was the brand’s first Executive Producer. In her 5 years as Executive Producer, BBC Introducing won a Sony Gold Award and went from its first stage at Glastonbury to being at over ten UK and international festivals including Reading & Leeds, Bestival, SXSW and MUSEXPO in LA. She also delivered the very first BBC Introducing Masterclass, a day of workshops, talks and advice from some of the biggest names in the industry at Maida Vale and Abbey Road Studios. Claire also oversaw from an editorial perspective the launch of the BBC Introducing Uploader, which is now the recognised destination for any new artist wanting to get their music heard.

At the end of her time at BBC Introducing, Claire was asked to lead on the outreach for Radio 1’s Hackney weekend which culminated in the Radio 1 Academy, a month long series of events in the heart of Hackney for its young people. There were talks from big named artists, actors and entrepreneurs and the chance to get hands on in music, film, fashion and tech. The Academy became a key part of Radio 1’s Big Weekend for the next 5 years and established itself as part of the event.

Claire continued working at the BBC in the Director General’s Office working on a series of audience focused projects as Editorial Lead. This included Make It Digital, the BBC’s biggest ever initiative to open up the opportunities of technology for young people. This involved collaborating with Facebook, Google as well as commissioning digital content and campaigns.

Claire still has the same passion today as she did when she started in events - to create events and campaigns that connect with the audience with real heart and purpose, and for some people lead to life changing opportunities.
